On behalf of the Al Zahra board, officers, volunteers, and community members, we extend our deepest condolences to our Awaited Twelfth Imam, Al-Hujjah (a.s.) — may Allah hasten his reappearance — and to the Muslim Ummah on the tragedy of Karbala.
Al Zahra Shia Association of Waterloo Region has organized Muharram Majalis to commemorate this tragedy beginning Monday, June 15, 2026, at 7:15 PM. The Majalis will be addressed by renowned scholar Sheikh Mahdi Kassamali.
Majalis Schedule
Islamic Dates: Eve of Muharram 1 to Eve of Muharram 12
Gregorian Dates: June 15 – June 26, 2026
Majlis Start Time: 7:15 PM
- Muharram 1–8: Majalis start at 7:15 PM.
- Muharram 9: Majlis starts after Salaat al-Maghribayn.
- Day of Ashura: June 25, 2026, subject to moon sighting; program begins with A’maal, Salah, and Majlis.
- Sham-e-Ghareeban: Eve of 11th Muharram, after Salaat al-Maghribayn.
- Final Majlis with Sheikh Mahdi Kassamali: Eve of Muharram 12, Friday, June 26.
- Dua-e-Tawassul on Tuesday and Dua-e-Kumayl on Thursday.
- Ziyarat-e-Ashura daily.
